This website offers information about many aspects of our good and friendly relations between Germany and Zambia. Development cooperation is a particularly important aspect of our relations. Zambian-German development cooperation encompasses 45 years of commitment of the German government to Zambia. Since 1964, when Zambia gained its independence, the German government has made available 833,2 million Euro of direct bilateral assistance and another 700 million Euro of indirect multilateral contributions to programs of the European Commission, the World Bank, the Africa Development Bank and the United Nations Organisations in Zambia.
Zambia and Germany agreed on water and decentralisation as focal areas of cooperation. Projects in the field of governance, state and civil society are also supported.
