The mission of the project is to support juveniles in conflict with Zambian law by placing trained law students in all juvenile courts in Lusaka to provide one-on-one guidance to juvenile defendants and their guardians with their criminal cases.
The organisation UP Zambia was founded in Lusaka, Zambia and incorporated in February 2015 as a company limited by guarantee (non-profit) in Zambia. UP is mainly active in Kamwala Remand Prison in Lusaka and in Kabwe Maximum and Medium Prisons.
The majority of the financing so far had come through private donations and fundraising activities. UP Zambia has broad community support and has had over 100 volunteers over the course of theproject.
